Porto Cristo is a nice harbor about 63 kilometers east of the capital Palma de Mallorca
The natural harbor bay, which is considered one of the most beautiful sceneries on Mallorca's coasts, was originally the port of the city of Manacor, which is only 13 kilometers away. There are now around 7,400 residents and residents in Porto Christo. The place has everything to offer for a nice vacation: a beautiful harbor, restaurants, cafes, bars and sandy beaches. The harbor promenade invites you to stroll and linger in one of the many cafés while enjoying picturesque views onto the harbor with its many fisher boats and motor yachts or onto the open sea. Porto Christo also has a very beautiful old town, which has a very special charm with narrow streets and many historic buildings, such as the church "Esglesia Mare de Deú del Carme" in the center of the city.
The signal and light tower, the "Torre del Serral dels Falcons", was built on the southern side of the bay of Porto Christo in 1577 to protect the city from possible attacks by pirates in the period from the 15th to the 18th century to protect. After the destruction in the Spanish Civil War, it was lovingly restored by the owners and can be visited today.
Porto Cristo itself has a small beach, which is well protected and the waves are therefore rather calm and moderate. The beach is therefore popular with families with small children, who can also use the small bathing island with a slide. The bay is bordered by the port on the right and a natural rock wall on the left. A beach promenade lines the beach in front of it and offers numerous cafés and restaurants as well as shops ensuring a relaxing bathing day.
But there are also some beautiful beaches and bays to explore around Porto Christo, such as Cala Magraner, Cala Menida, Cala Romantica or Cala Anguilla - to name just a few.
The beautiful coast around Porto Cristo is interspersed with countless caves and rock overhangs. However, many of these entrances to these caves are at sea level, which makes the tour quite dangerous. Today two of these caves are open to visitors and have become an attraction for Porto Christo: the "Coves del Drac" (dragon caves) and the "Coves dels Hams" (fishing hook caves), which impress with their particularly beautiful stalagmites and stalactites. The longest underground lake of Europe is also located in these caves. Here you can listen to the sounds of the musicians gliding silently on boats.
As on most beaches on the island, many water sport activities are offered during the season, such as pedal boating, SUP, surfing, beach volleyball and much more. You can also book many offers in the village and a shuttle usually takes care of the transport if needed.
